My name is Joseph Henri Hector Emond.  I am French Canadian.  My ancestors came to Canada from Normandy, France.  I was born in Green Valley, Ontario.  I grew up on a farm in Green Valley, Ontario and developed a passion for nature and especially wood, at a very young age.  I decided to become a lawyer in the early 1970's. I have background in Business and graduated from the University of Ottawa Law School in 1980. I worked in the areas of criminal law, family law, and personal injury law.  I left downtown in 1999 and I now practice exclusively in the area of personal injury law in a boutique firm with my spouse, Asfrah Syed-Emond (Ash). We have a home office located in Riverside South.

My journey as an artist began many years ago when I picked up photography as a hobby. During my travels I was inspired to photograph many foreign countries, and recently, I have started capturing images of local spots. My photographs offer a range of international sites; For example, France, Switzerland, Greece, Spain, New Orleans, Mexico, Jamaica, Cayman Islands and Bermuda. I have now completed a series of photography in Canada: Niagara on the Lake, Western Canada, Eastern Canada, and the Gatineau Region. The photographs offer views of the French Alps, Geneva, the Greek Islands, the Tulip Festival in Ottawa, the Butterfly Conservatory in Niagara, Ontario, and fishing villages in Newfoundland.

In 2007, I began making hardwood frames in my garage. I would find scrap pieces of wood and use my grandfather's tools from the farm to make frames. This proved to be a long and tedious process. In the summer of 2008, I decided to build myself a studio at the back of our property to launch my photo and framing business. I now have a beautiful functional place to produce my hardwood frames. My frames have evolved, in that I am now utilizing exotic woods from all over the world.  I have begun making hardwood furniture-- coffee tables, desks, etc.  I have also made butcher blocks, cutting boards and trays.
